The Screaming Silence

A dusty road leads forth,
To a barren land of forgotten paths,
Footsteps she awaits on her doorsteps,
Hope rises fraught to be born,
Silence screams a deafening song,
Arid winds chime against a past weary,
She awaits footsteps of love’s tragic story,
The dusty path creeks still,
A gauntlet of defeat may fill,
A heart weary of life’s journey.
Twilight fading away announces,
Another night of screeching silence

She turns and heads inward,
Momentary pausing with empty eyes,
